Tanto Half-Serrated

The Tanto blade shape, of Asian influence, has a thick pointed blade that's good for penetration. Coupled with a glass-filled nylon sheath this knife is designed for the toughest of tasks. Hard plastic MOLLE compatible sheath included. Please note a rolling change has been made to the markings on the Black Kraton G Fighting/Utility Knives. The "USA" marking has been removed and you may receive a knife without this marking. Only the marking has changed; this is not a change to where or how these products are made.

  - My Grandfather was in the Army Air Corp during WW2. He always swore by KA-BAR, and carried one for many years. I enlisted in the Army and was surprised to encounter KA-BAR knives in training, I found them to be reliable, sharp, and deadly. I have had many blades, still do in fact, my KA-BARs are a notch above almost all of the reliable blades I have. My KA-BAR Tanto is my standby. I carry my .45 caliber pistol, and my KA-BAR. I have one other KA-BAR, but while I doubtlessly could carry it, I do not, it sits in a place of honor, its well worn blade still razor sharp, still solid and still deadly. It is the one that belonged to my grandfather, he got it from his brother who was a Marine and who gave it to him as a gift. I know it is one of the few things the old Soldier never kept very far from reach, and I know why, it was his Fighting Knife, his KA-BAR. Thank you for continuing to make weapons that can be counted on, in this day and age of cheap steel and fancy yet useless blades. As long as you make them as you do now, men like myself and my grandfather will continue to buy and carry them proudly. I wish you had more stars available to rate, five is far too few.

  - I recieved my KA-BAR today. I loved the look and feel of the knife itself and the sheath it comes with is outstanding! It would be perfect if it wasnt for one thing that was frustrating. Out of the box I sent about an hour trying to make it sharp. I expect a KA-BAR to be sharp at anytime. That was frustrating and disappointing. Other than that its fantastic!

  - LOVE IT!!!! Bought it for hog hunting and it does a great job. Couldn't ask for a better knife. The sheath is great also makes for a comfortable day in the woods. I will definitely recommend this knife to anyone.

  - I wish there was a 2.5 rating, as I would give it that. The knife was perfect. Out of the box, this thing could stab through concrete. However I am very picky when it comes with sheathes. The sheathe is just as important as the knife to me. I spend 85% of my time outdoors in the wilderness of northern Vermont. Apart from the 4 firearms I carry when I hike, I carry 4 knives as well. One in my boot, one on my belt, one on my breast and one on my thigh. I wanted a main defense knife that I could deploy quickly. I use my 7" regular Ka Bar for that, and it came with a leather sheathe that has one button strap across the handle to hold it in place. I can deploy that in less than a second. The sheathe the Ka Bar Tanto came with is ridiculous. There are three (3) secure spots that I have to undo before I can deploy it. One across the bottom of the handle like the leather sheathe, one going across the part that separates the blade from the handle, and a final secure "latch" that you have to bend back in order to get the knife out. I was exremely disappointed with the sheathe, and wish they made a simple leather one like the regular Ka Bar. I am a huge Ka Bar fan, and have over 20 products of theirs, 3 that I use regularly (Cutlass Machete, 7" Ka Bar that I have had since Desert Storm and a 5" Regular Ka Bar that I keep on the right side of my ankle) but this Tanto blade will be sold to the local pawn shop.

  - I'm a huge fan of KA-BARs and I've had my eyes on this one for a while. It's sleek, it's gorgeous, I feel spectacular when it's in my presence and it's pretty reliable for all I use it for. Granted, it could be easier to remove it from its sheath, but that really doesn't take away from the quality of the knife itself. When it's properly maintained (oiled, sharpened and things of the like) it is absolutely reliable. Once it's sharpened, it stays sharpened even when put through some rough usage. I recommend it to knife lovers, hunters, hikers and as a self defense tool.

  - Ferociously sharp and extremely rugged. I use this knife for every big-blade job... it's great for hacking brush, punching holes in sheet metal, digging, chopping, and cracking pelvis and breastbones on medium game. I've had mine almost ten years now. It's extremely easy to sharpen and holds an edge nicely, but it's quite big and scary-looking to the unitiated. A lot of knife for the reasonable price.

  - This knife is great, Through 2 tours in Afghanistan and carrying it I would say 80% of the time it did any and all tasks admirably. However It had dulled extremely and the CutCo warranty does not cover this. I just wish that it was slightly smaller and the sheath that comes with it was easier to integrate into the mollie 2 system. As a knife used to cut apart a few goats and stab some things, It was and is the best knife i have ever had. I will most likely Purchase another in a few years.

  - Great knife but the sheath scratches the blade where the snap protrudes into the sheath. Repeated use will wear away the anti-rust coating, scratch the blade and makes the whole knife look tacky. The knife came fairly sharp and in flawless condition, that is of course until I used the sheath.

  - I bought the "7 version of this knife off of amazon and it is by far the best knife I've ever owned! Very sturdy, very sharp, has a good weight to it. I just loved it to death! Felt right at home in my hands. It cuts through saplings up to 2" thick if used right! Damn i miss this knife... My little brother lost it, If i had the expendable income I'd buy it again. Although I do recommend that anyone making this wonderful knife make it just about 1.7" shorter.

  - I live off grid in the interior of Alaska, and this is the knife I carry every day whether at work or play. I carry the 8" tanto and it does everything from chipping ice, cutting throats of beasts, cutting through brush, rope, paracord and so on. The pommel makes an excellent hammer in a pinch. The sheath is it's BEST function. In order to use a knife effectively, you must first draw it from its sheath. I have altered the sheath from its original form, in that I cut ALL the braided nylon "snap" restraints, and ONLY use the integral HI-Back restraint that only need be bent back a couple of degrees to release the knife. I can draw my knife from any position faster than any of my peers,...consequentially, every trapper and miner I know has bought, or is planning to buy the KA-Bar 8" tanto. This knife was made for Alaskans!

  - I was looking for a good field knife and discovered this beauty! The Ka-Bar Tanto is well-crafted, well-balanced, has an all-business look to it, and is American made. I didn't buy it, as it is more of a combat design, and prefer the model 1212 or 1214 Ka-Bar for general purpose. Later, my commanding officer presented one to me as a farewell gift, engraved with the unit name and logo. Talk about an awesome gift!

  - Bought one new in 2005 in Ft. Hood, TX. Carried it every day on every rotten patrol. 99.99% of the time used for mundane, boring things. Opening MREs, opening boxes, throwing at stuff out of boredom. Holds a mean edge and field sharpens easy. Great knife, would and did bet my life on it.   - I like the knife, but a knife like this should be sharp and this one was so dull it would not pass the paper test. Amazon shipped it with the knife loose in the box, but the sheath was boxed in a display box...very weird. I have to send it out to get it sharpened. Very disappointing. The design is good, but a quality knife should be razor sharp from the manufacturer.

  - Great knife. Was looking for a legal carry knife with multiple uses and I found it. Great price, great product. Some people complain about all the fasteners on the sheath. I cut off the top snap and left the lower snap. Now I can have the knife out and ready in one motion in a second. It does take a little practice because of the raised tabs but once I got the feel for it I don't even notice them until I return the knife to the sheath and make sure it snaps in. Anyway its a great product.

  - Great knife! KABAR has been around for years. Many vets swear by them, and now I know why. Razor sharp, and highly trustworthy. If it's good enough for veterans it's good enough for me. The sheath is functional, but not my favorite. I had a leather horizontal carry sheath made for it from Patriot Leather Company. Great to carry your favorite KABAR.

  - I received this knife about 4 years ago or so, and I love the knife.....but the plastic sheath leaves a lot to be desired. The snap on the front takes a bit of the paint off of the knife itself when it is drawn from the sheath, because the rivet is exposed inside the sheath and rubs against the knife. I am in the process of looking for a leather sheath for this knife, but due to its unusual shape, that might be difficult to do. The blade, while it does cut paper, does not feel quite as sharp as it could be. For those two reasons, I have given this 4 out of 5 stars. It would also be nice if Ka-Bar sold basic sharpening tools for their knives; I would certainly like to have one. However, again, I love the knife, and it has THE sharpest point of any knife I have ever had. It is practically a needle, and you can see the tip glitter in the light. I used this knife one morning when answering the door after someone tried opening it (my Glock was not immediately accessible). It was a misunderstanding; a contractor looking for the vacant apartment next to mine, and I didn't need to display the knife, but it was good to have in my hand if needed (also a good reminder to always keep your doors locked!). I trust this knife with my life.
