  - Got my BK-2 yesterday and I love it. Did some testing of its chopping, cutting, and battoning capabilities and I am thoroughly impressed. This knife is brutal. The nylon belt strap on the sheath is much to be desired (too flimsy).
  - I cannot emphasize this knife enough. It is the survivalist's survival knife. It is not a short sword or a silly Rambo knife. You can baton through a piece of steel pipe and then go skin a rabbit or fillet fish or whittle an oak spear with this knife if you so choose. I think that sums it up pretty well. Indestructible yet tractable.

  - I want to keep this simple, this knife is just perfect, it handles perfectly, when I go camping I bring my BK-2 and a small folding saw 9". I try to avoid chopping with the knife in order to conserve energy, however the BK-2 is a splitting axe if thats what I need, it's a chopping knife if thats what I need, it's a knife thats weight is worth carrying, and I trust it. It feels comforting to be able to bring a knife like this.

  - My favorite knife! Have had it for a little more than a year and does excellent hardcore jobs, chopping, digging, fine work. Made a bow drill kit perfectly. Micarta scales are a must because the standard grivory is slick. The kydex sheath is good but the belt loop is junk, easy to replace with a large Tek Lok clip. Wish it would come polished or patina finished instead of black epoxy but very east to remove and refinish. This is my over all "SHTF" knife. Great job.

  - Used this knife in combat in Iraq. It is a literal brute, I sed it for almost anything you can think of, even as a hammer on my 50 cal mount. It took punishment that would have destroyed any other knife. I know this because I went through 3 knives before I got this one. It is all you will ever need in a knife, this WILL save your life.

  - This knife is the thickest knife i have ever seen or owned wich is where its batoning and durability are derived from. this knife came in great condition moderately sharp and was all around impressive. the knife is a very heavy duty blade and is still holding up great after months of use and has very good edge retension i have only sharpened it once in the six months ive owned it and is still very sharp. this is a heavy weight compared to other knives of this class for instance Sog fusion bowie and the Gerber LMF 2 are no where near as beafy and durable as this knife. the sheath was great to i love the kydex sheath although it was my first so i do not have much to compare to. overall it is a great knife but it is a little small length wise for chopping wich i know it was not designed for that but this is just my opinion.

  - I love my BK -2 I use it for camping here in Arizona,...it's a very rugged knife and holds an edge well. I am dissapointed the my BK-2 didn't come stamped in the blade the logo amd where its made. I believe it is laser etched, this will wear off in time. The blade coating started to wear off,...so I removed the last of it and keep the blade well oiled Other than that, it's an awesome camping tool.

  - Love my BK-2!!! It is my daily carry knife, it is with me at all times!!! I have every US bayonet system going back to WWII, my USMC Ka-Bar fighting knife, BK-7, multitude of folding knives, every brand and style, yet the BK-2/BK-13 combination is with at all times. BK-9 is my next investment!!! I stiple the scales/handle, loctited the hardware, and added the pouch/molle attachments from another company, it is perfect!!!! Heavy, sharp, comfortable, dependable and a beast!!!!

  - Pros: sturdy, holds edge well, great price Cons: sheath sucks, grips are a little slick I have owned a BK2 for over a year now. It is my go to knife when I go camping, hiking or hunting. At first the thick blade makes it awkward to do delicate work with, but I can use it to make feather sticks and clean rabbits. The one thing that makes this knife stink is the low quality sheath. if you don't button the knife in it folds over and I think it even dulls the knife. The grips are a little slick too. I bought aftermarket grips for it. Problem solved.

  - The knife is great. However, the sheath is a big POS. I need to use two hands to remove the knife from the sheath. The thumb release is useless. I have to hold the sheath with one hand and literally yank the knife out of the sheath. The nylon webbing with the belt loop is too flimsy. Not too much though was put into the sheath design. This would have been a 5-star rating if the sheath were better.

  - This is a great knife. I took it camping and was able to use it to cut wood. I did however have one problem. As I used it the nuts and socket bolts came loose and therefore the handle fell off but the blade was still very useable. After getting home I replaced the jam nuts from the factory with some nylon locking (ny-lock) nuts. I did consider using some "LOCTITE" on the nuts but decided against it in the end. Overall...GREAT KNIFE!

  - Awesome blade, been using it in woods for chopping and splitting firewood. It been serving me good for 2 years now. Last month I was batoning in wood and I lost a handle screw nut. I contacted Kabar support and they send me a whole set of screws !!! I'm impressed with their knifes and support, thanks a lot!

  - This knife is a tank, however I agree with the previous comment about the new coating and printed logo rather than the stamped logo that would never wear out. I was really disappointed to see that they stopped doing that. Now when it wears off I wont have the official KaBar stamp in the blade. Stupid decision on the part of the manufacturer. I realize this wont affect the functionality of the knife, but it does degrade the "cool" factor. Why bother showing photos of the stamped blade if that's not how it's made? FRUSTRATED! Coolest knife ever just got a bit less cool. My frustration/expectation led to a 3 rather than a 5 star review.

  - This is no longer the knife you make. Please change the photo! This pretty much ruined a Christmas present I got for someone. I was going to show him how to customize it like the one he and I both fell in love with. You now make this with no stamp (just printed in white?!?) and some crazy rough coating, soo..... When you strip the ridiculous new coating (which true die hard users of this blade will eventually do as you know) it will no longer say BKT, which is nuts. I was proud to have a knife with your insignia on it. Now, when someone HAS to ask what kind of knife it is. I will just tell them that I have no idea. as to avoid the argument of why it is no longer stamped on the blade. I'm sure your answer will be that the new coating doesn't apply correctly with the etched logo, and my answer to that would be to listen to your customers and check your priorities. I won't even go into the sheath that makes it a waste of time to sharpen this knife. I am a long time customer/ carrier of your knives, and this is a damn fine piece of metal for the cost, don't get me wrong, But sometimes its the little things that count the most. I won't be buying/ recommending any more models that are made in this fashion. Therefor if I have to tell someone "make sure you get one of the older ones that......." I probably won't waste my time in the first place.

  - I am a knife maker and the BK2 is the real deal. I use it extensively when camping. Obviously there are compromises in factory produced knives. I am NOT a fan of the cutouts in the tang to reduce weight. The front cutout in particular weakens the meeting of tang and blade. The plastic sheath is great, but the strap/belt loop needs modification. A GREAT knife at this price point.

  - I read a review that said this was the perfect knife if you had to field strip an oldsmobile, and I completely agree. It's an unstoppable tank of a knife. I hike and camp every single weekend and this beast hasn't let me down yet. All my other knives went into the closet. The only CONS, while battoning I cracked the cheap made Grivory handles, which isn't much of a loss anyway as their super slick. KaBar must know cause for 40 bucks you can buy micarta ones for it here on their site. OH. The sheath absolutely SUCKS! I bought a Hedgehog one for it. Hey! Ka Bar, give it better handles, maybe G10? and a real sheath and it will be perfect! Even with it's 2 faults, I still think it's the best out there. Way better than the T.B. Tracker!

  - This is an awesome knife. I've chopped down small trees with it, batonned seasone oak for splitwood fires, make feathersticks, sliced tomatoes, etc. it can do it all. It is highly customizable as well. The handles leave a bit to be desired which leaves room for customization, and the sheath is only good at dulling the blade, again leaving room for expansion. Don't let the crappy handles and sheath dissuade you, it is well worth it even knowing you may want/need to mod it to get it perfect. Ethan Becker/Kabar, if you are listening, fix the handles and sheath please. The rest of the knife is so strong, why the supporting peripherals are shabby is a mystery.

  - WOW! This knife is so thick! I own a Kraton G fighting knife and the thickness on it looked somewhat puny compared to this one! Now by all means, the fighting knife is one of the best knives in the world don't get me wrong. But this knife is more heavy duty for sure!   - Unlike some previous comments, the ka-bar logo won't disappear if the coating goes away, it is laser engraved on the blade, not painted. The sheath does suck, at least part of it, the plastic part is OK, but the nylon strap is way too flimsy.

  - BE WARE! When you buy this knife (or any other) be aware that the logo now a days only is painted (not etched) and that the coating has a rough finish. Sorry to say but the knife appearance is no longer what it was =(. Feel free to compare pics on Google. I made this discovery when buying a new BK9 and I am not happy about it.....

  - I bought this knife sometime back from a local sporting dealer. Kept it oiled in my knife case till today when I decided to pull it out and use it on a little project. Here are my impressions. First, the overall quality and workmanship of this knife, at least the one I have, is excellent and fault-less. There are no perceptible defects as far as my eye can tell. It is heavy, at 1 LB, but perfectly balanced so it feels quite agile in the hand. I used it to cut out out some old poly rope I had strung across my car. Just a bit of a slicing motion to get the blade moving, and it wicked right through the ropes and thin diameter copper wire with no problem. Some people carp about the handle, but the handle fit my hand perfect, not too big nor too small, and it felt like it had the perfect combination of thickness, shape, and roudedness. In other words, the handle feels very solid and comfortable and very unlikely to cause any of your fingers to hurt or cramp. The thickness and stoutness of the blade leaves you with an impression that, if need be, you can put a tremendous amout of force or pressure on the blade and it would not fail you. I have not tried this knife "in the wet" yet, but I had no problem keeping a secure grip on the 'dry' handle. There is a huge lanyard hole for securing an add-on lanyard which can be slipped on the wrist for any situation where you might be worried about the knife coming out of your grip. Overall the knife has a very solid, chunky, but balanced feel about it. I have a couple of other survival knives, but this one exhibits the highest level of Quality. If you could only afford one fixed-blade knife, and you needed it to be able to do a wide range of tasks, I think this model would make a good choice. The only possible drawback that I can think of is that weiging 1 LB, it might feel real heavy on your belt at the end of a very long hike or march. But for short to mid-length hikes I dont think even that will be an issue.

  - disappointed with the change of the style and look of the knife what's up with that rough finish and no Kabar Stamp!! got mine in the mail yesterday used it did some splitting, chopping, buttoninga little of everything the blade is very thick indestructible but that won't do you much good if you can't hold on To the knife because of the wimpy plastic handle And a crappy sheath lol so I guess if you unscrew the plastic grip handles buy a new sheaf from Hedgehog he would have a real man knife lol Ethan Becker if you're listening the little details are what's important why would you make such a fine blade and then go cheap and the rest of it money is not that important bro I'm sure people would be willing to pay a few more dollars for good quality sheath and a good quality grip

  - Purchased this knife about a month ago and have taken it camping several times since, as well as some general bushcraft around the house. This is my first Ka-bar and I am very impressed. You can feel the strength and quality of this blade from the moment it comes out of the box. This is the kind of knife you can feel comfortable betting your life on. There was a good edge on the knife when I first got it, but with a good stone you can hone this blade razor sharp, and it holds excellently. I agree with other reviews that the floppy nylon belt loop on the sheath leaves a lot to be desired. I also agree that the grips are slippery, but the shape of the grips are great and fit my large hands in a way that the texture is not a huge issue. Overall, this knife is great for camping, hunting, bushcraft, and survival. 5 stars.

  - The knife is awesome! I purchased it along with the BK9. Both knives are bigger than I imagined and are heavy duty. The only Issue I have is with the sheath. It is hard to get the knife out of it. I have to put a large amount of pressure in order to draw the knife. I like the fact that the knife isn't gling to come out but I dont think it should be that hard for anyone to draw it. Other than that I love how the sheath looks. I haven't had the knife long enough to experience the dulling of the edge from the sheath but it is something most buyers mention. The knife looks and feels like a beast! Had I not experienced the issue with the sheath this would be a five star review hands down.

  - Congratulations, you have made the best bushcraft knife ever. I lead a kayaking/outdoor group and teach some survival and bushcraft classes. This is the most indestructible knife I have ever used. I bet I've dont more with mine than you all ever thought about testing. I have had to drive mine into a rockface and use it as an anchor to haul my bodyweight and pack up a cliff. Not intended for this or safe I know. But desperate times/desperate measures. Now I'm asking. Really more like begging pleading. I need you to make this same knife in stainless steel. Yes I realize we will lose some durability, that's ok. I want to be able to take my knife kayaking (accessible) without it rusting out after only one trip. One for water, one for land. Please, please, please make this a reality.

  - The BK-2 is the tank of knives. It's what I turn to for tasks I shy away from with other knives. Even with its skeletonized full tang, it's hands down the most durable utility knife I've ever owned. The BK-2 is to bushcraft what the BK-7 is to war. It has never failed me. Someone once joked that it's basically a pry bar with a sharpened edge. They weren't kidding. It's always been worth its weight in the field. There are tons of videos showing mods to customize it to any possible user. From buttering bread to making snare traps to skinning animals to batoning firewood to shelter building, the BK-2 gets it done. It isn't perfect at anything, it simply does everything. If you spend time in the mountains or woods, or need an urban survival knife, or want a stout bugout bag all-purpose knife, this is a serious contender to knives three times its cost. Jmho.
